Si Berry - Managing Director

Si loves climbing and has a wealth of experiance all over the world across the board from bouldering to big walls. He is one of those people who has it in him to pull out a monster lead just when you least expect it as the lads have found out on more than one occassion! Very Handy would be one way of putting it....

Si also loved running and competed in 12 Kimms back to back before an acident at Joshua Tree sidlined the running for a while, still he is now back mixing it up on the fell running circuit and as an ultra-runner and now manages the events on runfurther.com. As the manager of Sheffield Rock and Run for 12 years Si has loads of outdoor trade experiance and knows a lot of the characters in the game.

Most likely to be found getting a mate out the shit on a knarly mixed route when they are totally knackered or walking his dogs in the woods with his wife.

Tony Whitehouse - Chairman

Full time climbing enigma. Often heard but not seen - especially if he's standing sideways! Tony and his wife Sarah "tear it up" at any form of climbing/mountaineering/Big walling and are pretty handy on a tandem as well.

Most likely to be found with Sarah wherever the weathers good in the UK (or the world!) for Climbing.

Knows more about climbing than anybody we know and has an unhealthy obsession with guide books!

Iain Whitehouse - General Manager

Iain is responsible for all the day-to-day running of Beta. Iain has an excellent track record in the outdoor retail sector, coming to us from managing CragX Climbing Shop, and is strongly committed to customer service. He also knows his product and is one of Climber Magazine’s Gear review team.

Iain has been obsessed with climbing since he started in the early 90’s. He has climbed all over Europe from trad granite slabs in Setesdal to bolt-clipping in El Chorro and in the US, from Fort Collins Bouldering to Yosemite big walls. Of course, he's done the odd bit in the UK as well.

Most likely now to be found bouldering in the Peak with long suffering family in tow.

Mark Barnes - Northern Sales Agent for Outdoor Active Brands

Mark has 20 years of experience in and around the Outdoor industry in various roles from Retail management to Mountaineering instructor with numerous Alpine seasons and three expeditions to the Nepalese Himalaya under his belt and back to Retail buyer and has now moved on to own and operate his own agency.

These days he can be found running around and over the Lakeland fells training for his next Ultra distance race, in the past he has completed the Ultra Tour de Mont Blanc twice, the West Highland Way race twice, Hardmoors 110 twice and many more Ultras and Mountain marathons.

Marion - Accounts

Some people say Marion is mad as a fish, we think she has to be to put up with us all day!

Seen here on a coast to coast walk in May 2011.

Marion has cleaned up the lads act in the office by introducing a charity swear box!

She loves everything outdoors, Gardening and Gary.

Karen McDonald - Marketing and Graphic stuff

Karen is just with us on wednesdays and does all the graphic work for products, website and marketing.

Karen does quite alot of outdoor stuff - including ski mountaineering, alpine skiing, mountain biking, roady cycling, ultra-running and adventure racing (and anything else that gets thrown at her!!!). She lives in the Peak District where she is also a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist and helps to run the UK Ultra-running Champs.

Rob Napier - Climbing Wall and Competiton Wall Builder/Setter

Rob a born and bred Sheffield lad, became obsessed with climbing from the day he started at the age of thirteen. After buying his first pair of rock boots from Simon at Rock + Run in Sheffield and listening wide eyed to Simon’s endless pearls of wisdom on the necessity for a big trad rack, he decided to focus on sport climbing and bouldering instead.

A focused approach to training and climbing has established his reputation for having both moderate strength and stature. He has climbed all over Europe for the last 14years - enjoying  annual trips to the birth place of redpointing – the Frankenjura  in southern Germany – as well as living and working in Catalunya for a year – the Spanish sport climbing mecca. Rob’s wealth of climbing and travelling experience bring a great deal of ‘youthful’ enthusiasm and a passion to the Beta team.

He is also a keen surfer, fell runner and cyclist – handy as climbing and training so hard means lots of injury time – but his passion for outdoor sports definitely means he puts the Beta products to the test....
